I think this a tremendously important program to build a strong foundation that will put your puppy a head of the game when it comes to formal training and your very first hunting trip and or field trial. We see a huge difference in the dogs that have been through our young puppy program versus those that have not when they attend our Older Pup Program in North Dakota during the summer.
Lets get bird crazy- at least 2 walks per day in quail fields, pointing, bumping, chasing and loving life. Getting use to the 4 wheeler, UTV and horses.
Introduction to fetching for fun with puppy bumpers of all kinds, stuffed animals and more
Introduction to a very light young puppy check cord.
Introduction to the bench, for styling and getting use to having hands on them. Same bench for force fetching later if you enroll in that program.
Introduction to water(warmer months). I like my puppies to love water whether they are a pointing only dog or your all around, quail, dove and duck dog.
Introduction to riding around in a dog box on the UTV
Very careful introduction to the gun shot. At this stage depending on the pup.
They have a large designated area that they will get to play with other puppies. Lots of song birds to chase and point. They do get plenty of rest before their afternoon run in the quail fields.
Feeding Program included in the Young Puppy Program
